Discussions are continuing on the European standard for prestressing steels (prEN10138). In the meantime, the UK has been granted derogation from standstill, and a new revision of BS 5896 is being produced. It is expected that this will be published later in 2011.
R-TECH has been assessed by UKAS against all aspects of the testing of mechanical couplers according to BNFL Technical Standard A.0391_1 (July 2006).

BSI has launched an enquiry to determine if there is a requirement for a British Standard on mechanical couplers for reinforcing steel.
R-TECH has been assessed by UKAS against the requirements of the CARES Appendix TA1-B for statically loaded couplers, which has recently been amended to include a compression test.
