In July, Michael Moore joined us as a Research Engineer to develop our testing expertise in the non-standard testing of couplers and prestressing steels. Michael has a degree in Civil Engineering from Bristol University, and has several years experience in Structural Engineering with WSP and Price and Myers.

Discussions are continuing on the European standard for prestressing steels (prEN10138). In the meantime, the UK has been granted derogation from standstill, and a new revision of BS 5896 is being produced. It is expected that this will be published later in 2011.
R-TECH has been assessed by UKAS against all aspects of the testing of mechanical couplers according to BNFL Technical Standard A.0391_1 (July 2006).
